Robin Burgess

Research Profile

Robin Burgess is a PhD candidate at the UWA School of Biological Sciences and Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational science.

Robin Burgess

With a background in biomedical engineering, Robin’s research concerns the technological optimisation of the neurological treatment transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Whilst TMS is an approved, non-invasive treatment for a variety of psychiatric ailments, there are a number of opportunities for further improvement in therapeutic delivery. including increased focality of stimulation, power efficiency and cost effectiveness. Considering optimal materials, circuit design, and experimental potential for radiative techniques, Robin aims to improve TMS as a clinical treatment and to discover the mechanisms behind the efficacy of electromagnetic treatments.
